When and where you work

Hours of work

The normal full-time working week is 37.5 hours (7.5 hours per day) between the hours of 09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday. We operate a flexible distributed working model so should you need to adjust your schedule, either temporarily or permanently, please discuss this with the Managing Partners. As a company we operate a flexible working model across both the hours we work and the locations that we operate from. As long as we are able to successfully support our customers then we are flexible about individual routines and operate a sensible self-governance model.

Breaks

In addition to your half an hour rest break during lunch, we encourage you to take short breaks throughout the day so that you remain comfortable and focussed. For example, keep hydrated and make yourself a drink, use the restroom facilities or grab a snack.

Dress code

Big Blue Door advocates a casual dress code and appreciates the positive effect it has on productivity and creating a more comfortable environment for the team. From time to time you may be required to adopt a smart dress code, for instance, when attending client meetings. We only ask that employees consider their fellow colleagues as not to cause discomfort or offence when considering their attire. If you are unsure what constitutes a casual dress code or have any other questions, your line manager or Managing Partners will be happy to advise.

Time tracking

Recording how you spend your time working is very important to our business - this enables us to fairly and accurately bill clients for the time spent on tasks. In order to manage this we use Toggl, which allows time to be easily recorded against client projects and specific tasks. Once you have an account you can allocate the unique ID number from a task (from Pivotal Tracker) to the specific client in Toggl - there are various extensions for all major browsers to make this an easy process to follow. We also have internal projects against which more general administrative tasks or professional development can be recorded against.
As a company we don’t expect each employee to record their full working hours in Toggl - but please do record client work so this can be accurately tracked.
